Waterside was conceptualized in 2001 as a jazz fusion project by brothers Jason and Daniel Ahlbrandt. From their hometown in Erie, Pennsylvania, the band toured around the northeast for several years while Jason received formal training in classical guitar, music theory, composition, songwriting and singing.

As the band's style matured, Waterside's sound integrated amiable elements of pop/rock without forfeiting their signature musical influences from jazz, soul and funk. Since relocating to Nashville, TN in 2004, Waterside's unique funk/pop style and exceptional musicianship has been turning heads in the CCM world.

Beyond just exceeding musical expectations, Waterside challenges listeners with issues that run deep for all Christ-followers—love, failure, humility, character, purpose—and also captivate the secular listening audience.
